The Kitchen Garden: Cooking From Your DIY Herb Garden
Monday 08-25-2014, 6PM - 8:30PM
Seats available: 22
In this class, Health-supportive Chef Alia Dalal and micro farmer Todd Jones are going to show you what it really means to cook from scratch: by growing your own ingredients! Even if you have a black thumb, fresh herbs are easy to grow at home and are an inexpensive way to add freshness and flavor to all your recipes.
Start class by sipping on a basil-infused cocktail while Todd shares the dos and don'ts of building your first herb garden, whether you have an outdoor patio or just a sunny windowsill. He'll build an herb box filled with basil, cilantro, parsley, lemon thyme and mint that Chef Alia will transform into fabulous herb-forward recipes for tasting.
Recipes include a brilliant green chutney perfect for topping everything from shrimp to roasted cauliflower, a classic Middle Eastern grain salad, and a mint- and chocolate-lovers ice cream to end the night on a sweet note.
You'll leave with a fearless attitude towards starting an herb garden and a packetful of ideas on how to put those herbs to good use.
BONUS: One lucky student will go home with the herb box full of freshly planted herbs!
